Over the last few years, a trend to phase out environmentally damaging and hazardous products and materials has given rise to the birth of other more “safer” products and materials.
In the coming years, interior decorators are moving toward natural, organic materials. Plastics and synthetic materials that are hazards to the environment are being phased out. Green materials such as renewable sources of wood, cane, clay, ceramics, and terracotta are being brought in and being used on a larger canvas.
With the addition of new synthetic polymers that are non hazardous yet durable a trend to make homes environment friendly is taking shape. Decor elements made either from real or faux natural materials are in high demand, as they add a natural and authentic look to your space, yet provide affordability and durability over the years.
Colors, materials and designs are moving towards an environmental approach, with designs ensuring the involvement of nature-friendly concepts and products. While timeless white walls will never completely go out of style, people are seeking more comfort and coziness at home in the form of organic-color painted nooks, moody wallpapers, warm wood tones, and rich, colorful upholstery that is nature-inclined.
Biophilic interior Design is trending, which includes incorporating nature into the indoor environment. It comes from the word Biophilia – meaning Love of Nature. Biophilic Design focuses on creating a calming space with a visual connection with nature while improving wellbeing, health and productivity. Materials used are more nature-identical, environment friendly and non-hazardous.
With AI or artificial intelligence playing a larger role in certain parts of the design process, software to include a nature-friendly layout is one of the major trends this year.
While it is unlikely that AI will completely replace human designers, it is possible that certain parts of the design process could be automated, such as the creation of floor plans or the selection of furniture and decor or color charts and color co-ordination is increasingly using AI tools for large-scale industrial and corporate spaces.
Along with AI tools for design, more and more interiors (both residential and corporate) are including a larger smart tech and IOT component with automation becoming the name and style of the day.
